In the early 1900's a man named Max Grabowsky was just beginning to form a company that built one-cylinder engines for commercial trucks. The company did particularly well and began to gain attention from all the biggest auto industries earliest pioneers. General motors or GM especially took a liking to the concept of a passenger cargo truck line and decided to buy the corporation. The company renamed it General Motors Truck Company or GMC truck. The GMC Truck Company raised their profile by showcasing their GMC Truck at New York's International Auto show.
By doing this the trucks had gained massive exposure and were all the talk. GMC produced 600,000 trucks during the start of the 2nd world war. GMC now manufactures the largest collection of SUV's, pickup trucks, vans, light cargo trucks, and medium cargo trucks in the United States. GMC also produces fire trucks, ambulances, police cars, motorhomes, transit busses, and military vehicles. Chevrolet and GMC are virtually identical inside and out besides a few minor details.
In 1908 bought Reliance co for GM, the Reliance Motor co started first making cars in Detroit in 1902 and successfully built their first truck in 1903. In 1909 a 1-ton 6 passenger vehicle was in the works. 2 years later the GMC logo was first stamped on the vehicles. The model T was the first truck to be hand crafted by GM engineers ¾ to 2- tons of cargo available. GMC was desperate to extend capacity, so they built a 7-speed heavy duty model truck. By 1925 nearly 90 percent of all GMC trucks were used for military purposes.
GMC small cargo trucks have been made available to Buick, Pontiac, and Cadillac dealerships. During the early 60's and mid 70's mostly all GMC vehicles were equipped with quad headlights, while Chevrolet trucks were equipped with dual headlights. GMC and rival Chevy's grudge match went on for over thirty years. During this era we saw a wide variety of trucks and SUV's first being the Blazers and Jimmys. Then the Chevy Silveradoand GMC Sierras became popular among truck enthusiasts. GMC followed up the success of their Silverado and Sierra vehicles withthe GMC Yukon Denali and the Chevy Tahoe. Most all of these model vehicles shared everything with their competitors besides pricing and trim packages.
The GMC Yukon Denali is the top of the line SUV, in the coveted truck or SUV market. It should also be noted that along with carrying the Denali trim option. The Yukon Denali carries the highest price tag in its class. The GMC Yukon Denali line accounts for nearly half of all GMC SUV sales. Furthermore, the Chevrolet Suburban, also a large SUV, has had the most success and longest production history -- dating all the way back to 1935. Fast forward to the 2000s and you would find that Safety was still the main the main focus of the 2010GMC Yukon Denali.

Often described as a luxury SUV limousine, the Suburban was initially made as station wagonversion of a Chevrolet pick-up. This vehicle was also made into the Chevy Silverado series trucks. While facing stiff competition like Cadillac Escalade ESV, the Suburban has shared worldwide success and been one of the General Motors Corporations most profitable Sports Utility Vehicles. The Suburban is a full-size SUV with three rows of seating, full pick-up truck fame and a v8 engine. The suburban in recent years has been used for many purposes. The Suburban has been used by police officers, fire captains, it was also wildly popular when converted to a limousine and used in Casino VIP service for high rollers. You can even see the President of the United States in a Black on black Chevy Suburban Sports Utility vehicle, with a fully armored bullet proof version.
The GMC Sierra truck is considered to be the younger brother of the Chevy Silverado. The GMC Sierra was made to accommodate to a larger luxury market that Chevy hadn't been able to reach. The Sierra has been available and first debuted in 1960, later in 1962 the Silverado and GMC Sierra badges were tagged. Production came to a halt in 1999 but shortly after was re launched. The GMC Sierra truck was unique with its luxury yet handy workhorse style. The GMC Sierra can often be seen on most construction and manual labor sites across America and is the favorite truck among general contractors and regular folks alike.
The Chevrolet Avalanche was launched in late 2001 as 2002 model vehicle. First year Avalanche's included a light grey plastic trim, to separate them from the rest of the pack. The avalanche evolved in the next couple years and was given high praise from Motor Trend Magazine earning Truck of the Year in 2002. Equipped stock with a 5.3l V8 with 290 brake horsepower, this truck was not only unique it was quick. Also available in a 8.1L V8 with 340 horsepower
